Two kinds of person

This covers merchants — people with a SmoothSail account — and shoppers, who buy from a merchant’s store. For shoppers, the merchant is the one deciding what is collected; we process it on their behalf.

What we hold about merchants

Your name, email, phone if you give it, and what you do inside the admin. We use it to run the service, to bill you and to answer you when you write in.

What we hold about shoppers

What a merchant asks for at checkout: name, contact details, delivery address, and the order itself. Payment card details are handled by the payment gateway and never reach our servers.

Who else sees it

Our hosting and database provider, and any integration the merchant has connected. We do not sell data and we do not use one merchant’s data to help another.

Tracking on a merchant’s store

If a merchant adds a pixel or analytics ID, that third party will see visits to their store. That is the merchant’s decision and their disclosure to make.

How long

Order records are kept while the store is open, because merchants need them for their books. Close a store and we remove its data after a grace period.

Your rights

Ask us for a copy of what we hold, or to correct or delete it. Shoppers should ask the merchant first, since it is their store.
